2)「もし～がなければ、もし～があれば」の意味の仮定法

　① if it were not for =もし今～がなかったら
　　 if it had not been for =もしあの時～がなかったら

　②but for/without =もし～がなければ

　③withを使った文 =もし～があれば
仮定法の中でも、「もし今～がなかったら」（仮定法過去）や「もしあの時～がなかったら」（仮定法過去完了）というような意味を表す、特別な言い回しがあります。ここではそれを紹介します。
　ただ、頭で覚えただけでは、英語はすぐに出てきません。基本例文を、「まず英文を読んで、日本語に直訳する。」→「何度も英文を音読して、覚えてしまう。」→「和訳だけを見て、英文を言ってみる。」と言うパターンで、覚えていきましょう。きっとスラスラ英語が出てくるようになりますよ。

  基本例文　  訳　（基本直訳）
① if it were not for 「もし今～がなかったら」
/ if it had not been for 「もしあの時～がなかったら」
  If it were not for air, nothing could live on the earth.  《仮定法過去》
もし今、空気がなかったら、何も今、地球上で生きることができないだろう。
←地球に空気がなければ生命は存在しないだろう。
If it were not for music, our life would be boring.

=Were it not for music, our life would be boring.		 《仮定法過去》
 もし今、音楽がなかったら、私達の人生は今、退屈だったろう。

   If it had not been for good luck,
you might have been killed.

(≒It was possible that you were killed.)		  《仮定法過去完了》
 もしあの時、幸運がなかったら、あなたはあの時、死んでいた（←殺されていた）かもしれません。

(≒あなたは死んでたかもしれなかった。←あなたが殺されたことは可能だった。）
If it had not been for your help, we would not have succeeded.

=Had it not been for your help, we would not have succeeded.		 《仮定法過去完了》
もしあの時、あなたの助けがなかったら、私達はあの時、成功していなかっただろう。　　　　　
  ②　but for/ without 「もし～がなければ」

  But for dreams,
our life would have no meaning.

Without dreams,
our life would have no meaning.

=If it were not for dreams,
our life would have no meaning.

=Were it not for dreams,
our life would have no meaning.


≒If we didn't have dreams,
our life would have no meaning.		 《仮定法過去》
もし今、夢がなければ、私達の人生は、今意味を持たないだろう（→意味がなくなるだろう）。

≒もし私達が今、夢を持っていなかったら、私達の人生は、今意味を持たないだろう。

前置詞の後は名詞か動名詞

Without your goal,

=If it had not been for your goal,
we would have lost the game.

=Had it not been for your goal,
we would have lost the game.


≒If you hadn't got a goal,
we would have lost the game.		 《仮定法過去完了》
 もしあの時、君のゴールがなかったら、私達はあの時、その試合に負けていただろう。

≒もしあの時、君がゴールを決めていなかったら、私達はあの時、その試合に負けていただろう。

③  with 「もし～があれば」
《仮定法過去・過去完了のどちらでも使える》
With time, this project would succeed.

≒If we had time, this project would succeed.		 　《仮定法過去》
 もし今時間があれば、今この計画は成功するのだが。

≒もし今私達が時間を持っていれば（→時間があれば）、今この計画は成功するのだが。
Withyour advice, he would not have failed the exam.

≒If he had taken your advice, he would not have failed the exam.		 《仮定法過去完了》
 もしあの時、あなたのアドバイスがあったら、彼はあの時、試験に落ちなかっただろうに。

≒もし彼があの時、あなたのアドバイスを受け入れていれば、彼はあの時、試験に落ちなかっただろうに。
