| 空手 （Karate) | ||
| 沖縄発祥の武術。1992年、船越義珍（ふなこしぎちん・沖縄の首里城近く生まれ・1868-1957）が、東京の古武道体育展覧会で演武を初めて披露。その後も東京にとどまり、東京の雑司ヶ谷に空手道場「松濤館（しょうとうかん）」が建設されましたが、戦争で焼かれてしまいました。しかし、空手は日本中、そして世界にも広まりした。 1930年頃、門弟たちに修行の心得を示した「空手道二十訓」を完成させたと言われています。この中に、「空手に先手なし」という言葉があります。「試合はだんじて許さない。これは、空手の本質にかかわることだ。他人と技を比べ、勝ち負けにこだわった瞬間にそれは空手でなくなる。」というのが義珍の考え方でしたが、スポーツ空手が普及し、「型」が変わってしまうのではないかと心配していたということです。 沖縄発祥の「手」は、後に「唐手（からて）」と呼ばれ、さらに本土に渡って「空手」と改名。日本中に広まりました。 （「2017.9.24読売新聞より） |
