I didn't make it to the top but the supportive comments are amazing. I am so surprised and grateful to hear that the number of comments to me has reached almost 80☺️
The content of the comments is so rich that I am deeply moved as I read each sentence.

Also, I heard that there were unexpected and pleasant visitors to the experience corner, and people who supported me came even while I was away. I am very happy and grateful.

The situation around me and my physical condition are getting more severe every year.
It makes my heart warm when I read the messages of support from you in this situation.

As you can imagine, the equipment and tools of my workshop are not as good as those of major workshops, so I hope I can cover them with ideas and designs.

昨年の旅行で訪れたフィリピンの海、ビーチの景色をモチーフに、波を感じ取れる作品にしたいと思い、製作しました。
波の枠ごとに少しずつ違う切子(菊繋ぎ、菊籠目など)を入れていき、ヤシの葉🌴模様も入れてみました。
花瓶の場合はお皿と違って球形ですし、カットした部分から中の視界が見えづらくなるので中々大変なのです。
作品を見る角度によって様々な見え方がしますので(写真だけだと分かりづらいです)、ぜひ現物を観にお越しくださいませ🙇

そして今年も江戸切子体験ワークショップコーチ役をさせて頂くことになりました😊　私は4/5(土)当番日となっております。(会期は4/4〜6)

​I created this piece with a motif of the sea and beach scenery of the Philippines that I visited on a trip last year, and I tried to add the feeling of waves.
​I engraved different patterns for each frame, not only Kikutsunagi and Kikugome but also palm leaves🌴.
​Unlike plates, vases are spherical, so it's very hard to see the inside from the cut end and difficult to engrave.
As Kiriko looks different depending on the angle you look at, you can't fully enjoy its taste only with pictures, so please come and see the actual item 🙇

​And this year I will be the coach of the Edo Kiriko workshop again 😊 My duty is 4/5 (Sat). ​

お陰様で無事大盛況のうちに終了致しました✨
作品作りも呼びかけも、私なりにベストを尽くしましたが、残念ながら組合の賞やWEB投票の賞を取るには至りませんでした。
今回も皆様から沢山の投票応援を頂きまして、大変嬉しく思っております。本当にありがとうございました！

年々、賞を取るためのハードルが上がってきているような感じがします。弊社のような下請けの加工所が、古参、大手工房のレベルについていくのは並大抵な事ではありません。
ですが、状況の許す限り、皆様の応援を励みに、出品を続けていきたいと思っております。今後とも引き続き、応援を宜しくお願い致します。

そんな中で、今回私、切子体験コーナーの指導役をさせて頂きました。お客さんが嬉々として切子に向かう姿は、初心といいますか、新鮮味をもって感じることが出来、私自身ハッとするものがありました。
仕事となると、どうしても辛いことも多いのですが、見て使って頂くお客さんの喜ぶ顔を想像しながら、より良い作品作りを目指して精進してまいります。

Unfortunately I didn't win any prize though I did my best in creating the work and calling for votes.
I feel like the bar to win the prize is getting higher every year. It's hard for a small subcontracted workshop like ours to keep up with the level of a long-established or major workshops.
However, as long as the situation allows, I would like to continue exhibiting my works. I am verry happy if you would continue to support me.

This time I also became an instructor of the Kiriko experience corner at the department store. Seeing customers happily go through kiriko made me feel fresh and touched my heart.
When I think of kiriko as a job, it is often difficult, but I will work hard to create better works while imagining happy faces of customers who use it.

　いつも応援有り難うございます。江戸切子の佐久間尊規(みのる)です。今年も江戸切子新作展に作品を出展させて頂きました。22番「Lemon Soda」というタイトルです！

　今回は親切な先輩職人さんのご厚意で、珍しい黄色のガラス生地を入手する事が出来ました。黄色といえばレモン🍋！レモンソーダをモチーフに構想を膨らませました。
輪切りのレモンは鎚目(つちめ)という手法で細かく打ち込み、ソーダの泡は玉、矢来(やらい)の線、蒲鉾(かまぼこ)等で表現してみました。
私は基本的に優美でキャッチーな作品を心掛けて作っております。皆様に「あ、なんか面白いな！」と見て喜んで頂けたら幸いです😊

　昨年のWEB投票は惜しくも2位でした。今年は密かに1位が取れたらいいなと願いつつ…😅

Thank you for your support as always. This is Minoru Sakuma of Edo Kiriko. This year, I exhibited my work at the new Edo Kiriko exhibition. No. 22: Lemon Soda!

This time I was able to get a rare yellow glass fabric with the help of a kind senior craftsman. Speaking of yellow, lemon 🍋! The concept was expanded with the motif of lemon soda.
Round slices of lemon were punched finely using a technique called Tsuchime. Soda bubbles are represented by balls, yarai lines, kamaboko, etc.
Basically, I try to create elegant and catchy works. I hope you all enjoy watching it while feeling "It's kind of funny!" 😊

My result in the WEB poll last year was a close second. I secretly hope that I will take first place this year. 😅
I would be very happy if you could vote and support me🙇🏻‍

　雨でも️銀座には沢山のお客さまにお越しいただきました。
皆様ご存知の通り、賞は取れませんでしたが、とても苦労して作ったので、こうして多くの皆様に観て頂けるのは、本当にありがたいです。

　藤巻の社長さんとも立ち話しました。

　いつも、江戸切子に感心を持っていただき、ありがとうございます。今年も、佐久間実さんの作品が、第35回江戸切子新作展に出品されています。今回は、作家名を「佐久間尊規（さくまみのる）」とし、作品部門の2番「Harbor Lights」(1000万ドルの輝き!「神戸の夜景」を閉じ込めて）で出品しております。色々な事情で、（模様をカットする前の）適当なグラス（生地）を入手するのに困難があったそうですが、さらに素人には分かりにくいご苦労について、以下のようなコメントをされています。

「胴体がくびれている鼓形の形状は想像以上にカットしづらかったです。花瓶の口と底がシャフトに当たってしまうので、小さいダイヤホイールが使えず、特殊な形状のため、視界が取れず難航しました。デザインの段階での構想が甘かったとも言えますが、最後は無事出展できたので、見て楽しんでくださればありがたいです。」

Minoru Sakuma, a craftsman of glassware, has sent his work to "The 35th Edo Kiriko New Works Exhibition". His work has been named "Harbor Lights", No.2, which expresses a night view of Kobe worth 10 million dollars. Due to various circumstances, I have heard from him that he had difficulties in obtaining a suitable glass (before cutting the pattern), which is difficult for amateurs to understand.

"The shape of the drum with a narrow body was harder to cut than I imagined. As the mouth and bottom of the vase hit the shaft, I couldn't use the small diamond wheel, and because of the special shape, I couldn't see well and had some trouble. I finally made it to the exhibition, so please take a look."

「2022 伊丹国際クラフト展」で入選
　Accepted for 2022 ITAMI International Craft Exhibition!

　作品名/ Title of work:　X-over （クロスオーバー）

作品意図/ Work Concept：
　5つの盃を十字に並べた集合と、十字文様の盃単体がリンクして、融合する作品を目指しました。　単体では、かごめ文様で十字を配し、間に菊かごめ文様をカットし、万物の広がりを表現しました。X-overとは、お互いの境界線を越えて交じり合うこと。コロナ禍や戦争が速く終息して自由にお酒を飲みかわす日が来ることを願って。

The goal was to create a work in which a group of five sake cups arranged in a cross pattern and a single sake cup in a cross pattern were linked together to merge.
On the sake cup alone, crosses were arranged in a kagome (woven bamboo) pattern, and a chrysanthemum kagome pattern was cut in between to express the spread of all things.
X-over means crossing each other's boundaries and mixing. I hope the corona crisis and war will end quickly and the day will come when we can drink freely.

[伊丹国際クラフト展とは]
“お酒造りの町”伊丹にある美術館として、あらゆる素材(金物、木工、陶器、ガラスetc)を使った”酒器・酒器台”(あるいは”ジュエリー”1年交互に)の工芸品を募る、国際的な公募展です。
私も作品を作り、「作家名：佐久間尊規(みのる)」で応募したところ、”入選”させて頂きました！🙇🏻‍♂️
今回は全204名中、90名が入選。上位8名が入賞。現在、一般公開されております(12/25まで)。

今回は作品図録として冊子はありますが、残念ながら、作品の画像がWeb上に載ったり、人気投票をしたりという事はありませんが、以下のページをご覧いただき、「こういう活動もしているんだなぁ」と思っていただくと嬉しいです。

　皆さま、今年も投票応援して頂きまして、本当にありがとうございました。
　私なりに精一杯頑張りましたが、残念ながら賞には届かなかったようです。せっかく、たくさん応援頂いていたのに申し訳ございません。
この結果がすべてではありませんが、何が足りないかしっかり検証して、状況が許す限り、挑戦を続けていきたいと思います。
　一応、東急プラザ銀座での一般公開もありますが、人混みはあぶないので、おうちで上記Webよりお楽しみください。
　今後とも応援よろしくお願いいたします。

I'm sorry to say that I missed the prize though I did my best.
I know wining the prize is not my ultimate goal, but I need to find out what I am lacking and keep challenging as long as the situation allows.

　今回、作品を作るにあたり、ガラス生地の色と形からパイナップルにしようと思ったのですが、それをどうガラスに落とし込むか悩みました。とにかくガラス生地が4.5kgと、とても重かったので、扱いが難しく、長く持つと腕が震えました。
全体のデザイン構成、カットの構想、胴体マス目のカットバリエーションと道具の使い分けも難しかったです。
上部葉っぱの表現は面白くできたかなと思います。

　因みに、私どもで加工した江戸切子は、ミツワ硝子工芸さんにて販売しております。現在は、下請け加工のみで直接販売はしておりませんが、ゆくゆくはオリジナルの切子を手掛けることができますよう、頑張って参ります。

　少しでも江戸切子に興味を持ってもらい、手に取っていただければ嬉しいです。今後とも応援よろしくお願いいたします。

A Comment from Sakuma Minoru, an artisan
In making this work, "Pineapplize", I got inspiration from color and shape of original glass. It was so heavy (4.5kg) that my arm trembled when I kept holding it while I was working. That made it hard to handle the glass. I had to use several types of tools to engrave various curves and squares. This time I would like you to enjoy the unique shape of pineapple leaves.

At the moment, we only do subcontract processing and do not sell directly. I would like to make my orginal Kiriko and sell them someday.

I hope you will be interested in Edo-Kiriko and hold it in your hand. Thank you for your continued support.

Kiriko means cut glass. Edo-kiriko began in the first half of the 19th century and lives on today as a traditional form of Japanese glass art.
